Brian Beitel is a origami artist with a passion for kusudamas and geometric star designs. A lifelong New Jersey resident, Brian has been folding origami since 2006. What began with beginner-friendly books such as Easy Origami by John Montroll, soon evolved into a deeper exploration of the art form through video tutorials and the growing origami community on YouTube, where he developed both his technical skills and love for paper folding.

In 2019, Brian began designing origami models and has a successful YouTube channel, PeacefulMidnightBlue, with over 1,500 subscribers and 200,000 views.

Brian's approach to origami design is somewhat unconventional. Rather than beginning with mathematical calculations or design ideas, he often starts by simply folding and experimenting until modules look beautiful and assemble securely with others.

More than six years in the making, Modern Modulars: 36 Stunning Stars for the Origami Enthusiast is Brian's first published book. The collection showcases his vibrant and innovative modular star designs and reflects years of creativity, experimentation, and refinement.

Professionally, Brian holds an MBA in Sustainable Business and works in community and economic development. Brian is a member of OrigamiUSA and regularly attends the annual conventions in New York City. Alongside folding and designing origami, he enjoys spending his time with family, friends, and cat named Kiwi.
